Quaker and Conure Buddies of Illinois

About Us

We are a small, closed aviary specializing in Quaker Parakeets and Conures. We value quality over quantity. Because of this, we are able to properly socialize each baby on an individual basis. Our babies are hand fed, loved and socialized all day in our home.

We consider ourselves hobby breeders. We're not avian scientists. The "quaker cheeseburger", as seen below, is about as technical as we get around here.

But we are professional. And most importantly, we genuinely love these birds. All of our hearts go into raising these babies. We want others to have the opportunity to experience the unique kind of companionship only a bird can give. It really is a special bond.

More photos to come - I've been a very busy bird mommy...

Sprite - A Pallid Green Quaker
Age - 6 Years

Sprite was supposed to be a daddy, but his mate wouldn't allow him into the nest box. I tell folks that, from my experience, handfed pet quakers don't necessarily make the best parents. Sprite and Snowball are a good example of this. Sprite is much more interested in what I'm doing than in what his mate wants him to do. They have been good friends, but Snowball is a pushy lady and Sprite is a classic milquetoast.

Who's a good boy? Sprite's a good boy. And he will let you know it, too! Sprite learned to step up in 2 days!

Pictured with Sprite is my daughter, Raven (age 11). Raven is one of my best helpers and knows so much about birds already. Raven has fallen in love with Sprite. I think Sprite is pretty smitten himself ;)
