A note about breeding
We want the best possible lives for our babies and we would like to discourage people from over-breeding and confining our babies to a life in a cage. Hand-fed parrots do not always make good breeders. It can take several years for them to produce, if at all. What will become of the birds if they cannot breed? Please breed responsibly and humanely - breeder birds deserve a good life and, contrary to some opinions, breed very well in large flights and large cages. Keep in mind that once parrots have been bred, they will often prefer their mate to human companionship. Please do your research before buying or breeding any parrot. Serious, humane breeders are welcome to inquire about available breeder birds. Before buying from us
Birds need to be socialized every day to ensure that they continue to be happy, healthy companions. Even hand-fed parrots can experience behavioral problems. Research species behavior and begin training early to help prevent problems. Many parrots can live to be over 30 years old. To a bird who is never socialized and only knows the inside of a cage, that can seem like an eternity.Plan ahead for your bird's future. Where will your bird go if something should happen to you? If the bird is for a child, who will care for the bird when they go to college? Is your child mature enough for a parrot, or are they the type of child who goes from one interest to the next? What if you move or lose your job? There really is much to consider.
Sales Policy
A NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of $50 is needed to reserve a baby. The deposit will be subtracted from the price of the bird. We accept cash, money orders from a post office or cashier's checks. Deposits are only refundable if the reserved bird is undeliverable for some reason on our behalf. Please research your intended species and make sure that this is the right bird for you before placing your deposit. Please email us to reserve a baby. All bird(s) must be paid in full with cleared funds at time of delivery or when picked up. We run a closed aviary and do not offer tours of our birds for health and safety reasons. Young birds maybe seen, once weaning has begun, by appointment. Your bird must be quarantined for 30 days in a separate area, away from all the other birds before they are introduced to the others. We offer DNA sexing with certificate for an additional $20. We do not ship babies, but will travel, depending on distance. A fee for mileage may be required for longer travel.
It is your responsibility to take your new baby to an avian vet for a checkup within 1 week of the baby's arrival in your home. Should the baby prove to be unhealthy in that time, we will either offer a refund or replace the baby. No babies will be accepted without the leg band intact. The baby must be returned with written documentation with test results of defect from a qualified avian vet. We do not consider a slight growth of gram negative bacteria post-traveling/rehoming to be disease, but recognize this as a stress-related reaction. If you have other birds in your home, please keep in mind that many adult birds can be carriers of disease and show no symptoms. We will not be held responsible for any sick babies unless you can provide a vet certified bill of good health for all the birds in your home.
